Ok, I've been over this thing 100 times and cant figure it out. All fuses and relays checked. Connections checked. My temp gauge stopped working. This, I think, is also keeping my fan from kicking on. Anyone able to tell me where the gauge gets its signal from? Is it only from the sensor in the front or is there one in the engine also? Has anyone changed just the temp gauge? Hard to believe it would up and die.
Sorry for the delay. The temp it read at the engine as TJ stated. The gauge reads the temp in the head. It does pass the signal thru the ECU then to the gauge. I doubt the ECU is the issue though. It would either be a faulty gauge or sensor. I do not have a photo of the sensors location and is very hard to obtain without removing console and seats to get a good view for one. It is located in the head near the thermo though. Trying to remember, but I believe it is a two pin.
I do believe that there is a default built into the ECU that when it detects a very high temp at this sensor it will also drive the cooling fan. Of this I am not totally certain though.
