Guys, has anybody had any issues with their reeper missing? I have changed plugs, plug wires, 2 of the fuel lines and still nothing. I can pull the first and third plug wire off while running and motor goes dead. When I pull the #2 plug wire off motor has no change, which tells me it’s in the #2 cylinder. It only has 350 miles on it and I bought it brand new. Hardly ridden at all. Getting really tired of having to work on this thing, seems it’s one problem after another! Any suggestions on how to see if the injector is bad or any replacement part numbers for injectors? Any suggestions I will be thankful for.
I agree with lugnut. I would double check for spark to that cylinder. I read in another post you replaced the wires and I'm assuming the plugs too. You may have inadvertently cracked the insulator installing the new plug or it is possible to have a brand new faulty one. That goes for the wires too. After all pride in workmanship ain't what it used to be.
I went back and looked at your original post about the plug wires you changed to. I agree you should be testing to see if you have spark. My other observation after saying you only have 350 miles on this machine is the rust and corrosion on engine parts in the picture you posted.
Has this machine seen water duty and or crossings? You may need to trace some additional wiring and connections and check them for clean and complete connections as well.
I didn't see mention of the plugs you used when replacing. NGK are the best replacement plug to use.
To test spark I would use a known good plug and open the gap to double the norm of .035". It should still easily jump this gap. If not you have weak spark. I have a similar misfire in one cylinder and it traced back to chaffed wires in the wire harness. Have you made any mods that could effect the main harness? Also check the ECU main connection for dirt and connection problems.
Also check associated grounds as the mentioned rust and corrosion seen could be an issue as well. Keep us posted on how things go and we can help as needed.
In response to the rust and corrosion, actually that is just the result of riding it ( at least when it’s not having to be worked on ) and washing it off, the deepest water it has seen is maybe 12 inches, and that’s just a mud hole on the back trail at my house. It may be possible of a brand new bad plug, going to check that this eve, yes they are NGK. My next step is to swap 2 injectors and see if the problem follows. From what I can tell, the #2 cyl has the same spark as the other 2 cyl’s.
Just a quick update, it was a clogged injector, I took the # 2 and #3 injectors off and cleaned #2 with starting fluid and wd-40,then swapped the places on the fuel rail to see if problem followed injector, miss is gone and has all power back.
