I just puchased a 2017 reeper 4 new. Took it out this weekend and had quite a bit of trouble with the charcoal canister filling with fuel when going up steep inclines. The port for the canister is at the back of the tank and doesnt seem to have any kind of check valve. With a full tank the fuel just runs out into the canister then once the canister is full the tank cant properly vent. Once pressure builds in the tank it just pushes more fuel out into the canister then out the overflow onto the ground. I popped a little hole in my gas cap and bypassed the canister for the weekend which seemed to work fine, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this and if theres a way to actually fix it without bypassing?
They did not put the canisters on the 2013 models. We need more info before we can be much help. What kinda gas have you been using, how long has it sat with out running, was it sudden or gradually got worse, and have you changed the plugs, air and fuel filters? The more you can tell us the better it will help us help you. Just to help eliminate confusion when someone is trying to help. The sport models have a 1100cc motor and have the canister. They didn't come out till after 2016. The 2013's was only available with the 800cc motor and did not use the canister. I only mentioned this because if you say it is a sport people will assume you have the 1100cc motor and could prolong getting to the rout of the problem
I believe for one model year they labeled them sport with the 800, but I could be wrong. But yes, generally speaking if it says sport it would be an 1100. And TJ is correct on the canister. It is used to meet EPA regulations. Although it doesn't perform it's job well.
Have to ask the general questions first. Have you changed or upgraded the plugs? Changed air filter, the paper can plug quickly yet not look dirty. You also don't state the miles you have on the machine.
