Got my notice to register the Reep and it also included a notice to have it inspected prior to registration. I was shocked for last three years it did not need one and the first one was from the dealer when the vehicle was new that lasted two years. We under went a transition to remove the stickers from the windshield and not need that any more and LSV's are exempt from inspections in Texas. The office girl told me I had to have a inspection cause my Reep was registered as a auto and not a Electric Neighborhood Cart. So we argued that because its not electric than its a LSV and is exempt from inspections still. The lady told me I would have to re-register the vehicle to get around it or go get it inspected before she would give me my new tag. So I left and went to a authorized inspection place close by only to be turned down cause there was no computer ODB plug in for them to communicate with its computer. Great!! Now what am I going to do.... So I went back and argued my case again and she handed me a Form 130-U to fill out and bring my title back to them and re-register the thing at my expense. Well you know how that hit mister tight wad here don't you! So I'm going over the form with her as what need to be filled out and their is no place on the form to check or even ask or tell if you vehicle is a Neighborhood Electric or LSV on the form. And no place to put it put it either, so I chewed their a$$ for that mistake and told her that's how this whole thing is messed up and its not our fault its the States fault for assuming these are a normal vehicle. For three years I didn't need a registration change or inspection and now you want one at my expense? Something is wrong here so I left without a tag and I'm writing some staving letters to some people like the county tax assessors and how well his crew is performing to satisfy his customers that vote for him. I get home and have a cold one to com my nerves down and think about this a wile. Bingo it hit me, dumb a$$ go try another inspection station. So I loaded up and off to a different place of inspection and the kid was nice and said, "no problem he'll do it." He said he could do a general inspection and it will suffice their needs as it doesn't need to be hooked to the computer and then he didn't even charge me for it. He said it should be exempt and no charge, go have a nice day. So if your up against the wall on the tags and registration just keep plugging and keep your mind open as to your options and press on. I'm just glad mine is working out and my blood pressure is back down. Happy Trails Ya'll.
