Well, Alaska mud and the Reeper don't get along very well lol, broke the front driveshaft right at the splined yoke going to the front diff. Any good tips on getting it out and how much of it has to come out? It looks like it's in sections, I'm hoping we can just get the end piece.

Sorry to hear this but to take it out of the two seater with the front already broke off all you should have to do is take the roll pin out of the carrier brg. and slide it forward, this way you can still drive it in 2wd - but to put the whole complete shaft assem. in you have to unbolt the carrier brg. from frame and slide over to the side enough for it to fit - there is not enough room to just take roll pins out and compress it to make it clear so sliding the carrier brg. over is the best and only way that I found on my 2012 model hope this helps.

Others have had issues with vibration from the driveshaft. There is a thread on it. If you have a place that rebuilds or makes drive shafts I think you would be better off going that route. You will then know you have a good strong well balanced shaft.

The shop close to me said they can't do anything with it! I was hoping to find the flange and have the cut the broken end off and weld a new one on, but oh well!

HI I don't need the front shaft,so I took everything out in front of the trans,Is there something I can put over the front shaft of the transmission where the other shaft used to fit.

reddog disassemble the Cv joint that comes out of the front of the trans and use the cup part and put back in or leave in the machine as it can be disassembled in place. The cup will remain and it is needed to seal the front output.
Doing this will make the machine rear wheel drive and still allow the front output to seal. Remove all front drive shaft assembly up to the differential and you will be set.

Might have a hard time finding a shop that will want to weld a driveshaft and know what they are doing. I found most drive shaft shops will not repair these shafts as they are not sure of the make up and not like typical drive shafts per cars per say. There is great danger in an incorrect repair of a drive shaft. For this reason many wont touch them. I did find one place willing to build complete new given all the specs needed, but cost wasn't worth the time and effort for a one off drive shaft.

My buddy ground a V in the end of the shaft and on the bottom of the splines and we welded it back together. That was 500 or so miles ago and no vibrations and nothing has broken yet except for the crash damage lol.

Probably just need to adjust the shifter, pop the console out and take a look.

Yes, sounds like the shift is out of adjustment and is not fully engaging. You can go here
and I attempt to describe different adjustments.

Man that sucks, I would start looking for messed up stuff during assembly at the factory. Start by first checking the front and rear axle ratios and make sure they are matched first. Something is loading the shaft too much. And that would do it if unmatched ratios exist.

Seems like a good fix. Question is first are the pins in line down the shaft? So if the shaft twists you can tell by change in pin angle to each.
Is the steel rod just carbon steel or anything harder? A drive shaft can experience tremendous amount of torque load with the gearing we have.
It does seem like a solid fix and will be interested in how it performs. Will see if those pins can handle the load. I would test with caution with initial use to see how it performs.

Hey Grim, how is the fabricated shaft holding up? Just broke mine and am not happy about the cost for replacing. Where'd you source the shaft the you bought? Anything special about it? Thanks in advance.

Made out out of two shafts order number 7 tool strength rolled steel then welded the yokes on both ends Just broke my front shaft yesterday,, in the snow no less. Any shaft sources you people know of on the east coast? I may have it welded for now, but I'm also wondering if it's under warranty? I purchased the machine in 11/17. Any thoughts?
